Kristen Millares Young
Author, Subduction
Kristen Millares Young is the author of the novel Subduction, a Paris Review staff pick that won Nautilus and Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY) awards. Shortlisted for the VCU Cabell First Novelist Award, Subduction was a finalist for Foreword Indies Book of the Year and two International Latino Book Awards.
Kristen’s investigations, essays and book reviews appear most recently in the Washington Post, the Guardian, Advanced Creative Nonfiction: A Writer’s Guide and Anthology, and Alone Together, which won a Washington State Book Award in general nonfiction. Kristen was the researcher for the New York Times team behind “Snow Fall,” which won a Pulitzer Prize. She is the editor of Seismic: Seattle, City of Literature, a 2021 finalist for a Washington State Book Award in creative nonfiction.
