Randal Root
Senior Consultant and Technical Instructor
Randal Root is a senior consultant specializing in .NET programming, SQL Server business intelligence solutions and technical education. Although he’s been teaching network and database administration since 1998, he primarily focuses on Windows, Web and database programming along with business intelligence topics. Root is proficient in course development and has developed several certification programs in the Seattle area. Root, who began teaching with UW Professional & Continuing Education in 2006, was awarded the Legacy Instructional Excellence Award in 2019.
Out of the classroom, Root has worked in the industry as a network administrator and programmer since the 1980s, spending recent years working mostly as a consultant with data warehousing and reporting solutions. He holds several Microsoft professional certifications, including MCSE, MCP+I, MCTS, MCDBA, MCAD and MCT. He’s also the author of two books: A Tester's Guide to .NET Programming and Pro SQL Server 2012 BI Solutions, both published by Apress.
